What comes first: the chicken, the egg, or the bad attitude?

OK, so this probably won't interest anybody else but folks who raise chickens, but this lead to some interesting breeding breakthroughs. Especially if they can figure out how to prolong the laying life of a hen ...

Researchers at the University of Alberta have discovered that chickens raised for meat can choose whether or not they'll funnel the nutrients they eat towards themselves or their eggs.

Irish language recognised by EU

Depsite the best efforts of the Brits over several centuries to eradicate it, Gaelic hangs on. This insures it's political survival, but the real test will come as Ireland moves closer to the EU, which will put a higher cultural value on English as a 'lingua franca'.

The Irish language is officially recognised as a working language by the European Union.
