Audiovox Acquires Thomson CE Business, Including RCA Brand

Audiovox Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement with Thomson to acquire its U.S., Canada, China and Hong Kong consumer electronics audio video business. As a result of the acquisition, Audiovox will acquire the rights to the RCA brand for consumer electronics audio video products. The $19.7 million deal is expected to close before the end of the year, Audiovox said in a statement today.

I'm a senior software engineer in the RCA Advanced Audio/Video division of Thomson, which is the formal name of the unit purchased. The next three months promise to be interesting indeed.
