Averting 9/11: How close we came

I took a little trip to Ohio yesterday, and with nothing else on the radio I listened to alot of these hearings on NPR. Fascinating stuff really: the inner workings of the national security establishment exposed. But Sandy Berger, Clinton's National Security Advisor, came up with the quote of the day:

History is written looking in a rear view mirror, but unfolds across a foggy windshield.

A nifty ways of saying that hindsight is always 20/20.

Terror commission hearings show the changed context since 9/11, and the difficulties in curbing Al Qaeda.
