New York Bans Most Trans Fats in Restaurants

I wonder how many people remember that trans-fats came into wide use after government reports in the late 1970's "proved" them to be a much safer substitute for the bad, evil animal fats and straight up veggie oil?

I wonder how many of the people who were all for the smoking bans imposed on these same restaurants now feel their ox is being gored?

And finally, I've gotta wonder what's next on the nanny states agenda? Sugar? Cola? Beer (again)? It seems to me that we are rapidly approaching that hallowed plane of existence where everything not prohibited is required...

Some experts said the measure, which is opposed by the restaurant industry, would be a model for other cities.
