US health officials are checking shipments of toothpaste from China for a potentially lethal chemical.

This article makes me glad that I buy Yankee-made toothpaste, but I wish I had some way to determine the origins of all the ingredients in my food. Unfortunately, I just don't have time to make all my own foods from raw, local ingredients. Things like pasta, mustard, and chocolate chips have to come pre-made from the grocery store. :(

Pasta isn't actually that hard if you can get the right kind of flour for it. A tiny bit time consuming and a little bit more expensive than getting the premade stuff. Also you'd probably need a pasta machine or attachment to your mixer.
