March 5, 1872: Westinghouse Gives Railroads a Brake

Funny how most folks remember Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla but not George Westinghouse, even though he was arguably a more important inventor than either of them, and founded a company that still bears his name.

Prolific inventor George Westinghouse Jr. designs a safe and reliable automatic brake to stop trains right in their tracks.
