This election, unlike 2000, may be a rout

It's fascinating to me to see the change in my friends, some of whom have always been decidedly Republican. And I include myself in this - the last time I personally voted Democratic was 1992, and I voted for Ross Perot out of a disgust with Bush Sr.'s infamous "Read my lips - no new taxes'" and his subsequent pushing new taxes down our throats. That was an election that was really an up or down vote on the incumbent: the presence of Perot just served to lower Bill Clinton's margin of victory. If Perot hadn't been on the ballot, I would have pulled the handle gladly for Clinton.

War and other events could tip the presidential race decisively to Bush or Kerry.
