Toys for Tots rejects Jesus dolls

Oh, my. "Tasteless" doesn't do this justice. Have these people no shame at all?

You don't have to be a heathen to be offended by this rank attempt to propagandize very young children: I can only imagine how deeply devoted Christians must feel at seeing the being they consider the very son of the one true god reduced to a talking doll! Wasn't there something in that book of theirs about "graven images"?

Worse still, the website of the company involved shows a whole line of "biblical talking dolls". Where's Balaam's ass? What's next, a talking golden calf? Oops, it's been done!

A talking Jesus doll has been turned down by the Marine Reserves' Toys for Tots program.

The Trash Princess

Or, stealing and twisting a line from Casablanca, "We'll always have a Paris ..."

Paris Hilton may be a composite of contemporary American sins, but hating Paris Hilton is another thing entirely. It’s a sign of lingering cultural sanity.

Among Pagans

Nice article about Haustblót (which we here in Vinland call Winter Nights) in Iceland.

Steam rose from the dinner on the table, the autumn sacrifice. The guests waited patiently for their horse meat, blood pudding and liver sausage to be blessed before they could start feasting upon it.

War widows want pagan symbols on graves

This is the kind of press we need - positive stuff involving personal loss and the search for redress of an outrage. Beats the Hel out of the usual mish-mash of weird pap we get every Halloween.

The widows of two combat veterans sued the government Monday for not allowing Wiccan symbols on their husbands' military headstones.
