Virgin versus Vikings

Gotta love the headline on this one, but it's about offshoring in Scotland. I particularly noted the subsidy that the company received:

The deal has outraged Scottish politicians and labor leaders, with one union official calling on Virgin to return more than $1 billion in government subsidies the company collected last year. Sir Richard Branson may have messed with the wrong Vikings.

This seems to be a developing strategy with some operators: take the proffered cash for staying put, and then flee as soon as the terms expire. Sort of like a combination of blackmail and burglary...

A plan to close a call center in Scotland has locals up in arms against Sir Richard Branson's company.

Smoke Free Shooting Gallery

...not the kind with guns - the kind with heroin! Yep, according to Secular Blasphemy, Oslo, Norway has a place where heroin addicts can go to legally shoot up, but not smoke! Seems as though sheer stupidity is a completely global product.
