Country Life

People who buy homes "in the country" should understand that they're moving into a work zone: farming is not always as tidy and romanitc as it's sometimes pictured.

It reminds me of a line from the song "Country Life" by the English band Show of Hands: "We hate the blood but we want the meat!" Out here, you're gonna get both.

A pile of cattle manure is believed to be the source of a malodorous stench that caused one woman to complain “she almost vomited from the smell,” according to police reports.

A resident of the 2700 block of Yosemite Drive who called police at 5:07 p.m. said her neighbors were also gagging from the odor.

Fire, Lebanon police and Boone County EMS units covered the area from the Park Place subdivision to County Road 300 North before a CTFD unit sniffed out the source: A manure pile at a cattle farm near county roads 250 West and 250 North.

Notes: If you put a <mailto:> link in the URL field your address will not be mangled: this could be a bad idea as your email address could be easily harvested by bots designed for SPAM. The comments field should now format correctly for line feeds and carriage returns: when you hit the 'Enter' or 'Return' keys in your comment it should break to a new line. The text should wrap cleanly. Please let me know if it doesn't. No HTML tags will pass through - entering links seems to be the main cause of comment SPAM. Also, please be sure that Javascript is enabled in your browser before attempting to post a writeback. Sorry for any inconvenience, but this really helps cut down on the amount of comment SPAM I have to deal with.
