Animal Sacrifice

A fine exposition from a thoughtful blog ...

If we are going to eat meat, then the animals we consume should be killed in a fashion which respects their nature and does them honor. To simply slaughter an animal for food is, in our opinion, wrong. The animal we eat must be killed humanely, with honor, and with an acknowledgement that we have removed this animal from the circle of life to offer us sustenance.

Good post, Mac. I do eat meat and see nothing wrong with consuming the flesh of our four-legged, winged, or scaled brethren. I don't eat beef, but that is for health reasons and unrelated to the topic at hand. I must admit that I don't hunt, and that I have nothing but respect for individuals who treat the hunt and their prey with respect. Although I have not experienced the hunt, I have tried to be mindful of the fact that an animal had to perish in order for me to have meat. It's difficult to have that mindset in the supermarket, but my intention is to assume a prayerful attitude of respect and gratitude when I prepare the meat for consumtion in my home.
