Real Sticky

As I write these words about 7:15am local time, the air temperature is 72°F, and the dew point is 71°F. Which makes the relative humidity about 98%. The air is so thick I could probably cut a block of it out with a knife and box it up. It's not currently raining, but there's moisture dripping from everything - trees, buildings, cows ....

It's been like this for about a week now, even since the remains of hurricane Dennis moved in. Before that we had a blistering spell of very hot weather, which practically reduced the pastures to ash. The dairy herd at Trader's Point actually dropped about half of their production due to the heat and lack of rain. Well, that's over!

On the plus side, the long period of dry heat seemed to store a lot of it's energy in the corn and beans. Once a bit of water was added to the mix, the growth just took off - I'll be you could literally watch the corn grow today! It went up over five inches from Friday to Saturday... welcome to Indiana in July!
